The Workshop is Ready – Time to Begin!
After weeks of preparation and anticipation, things are finally coming together—and the build is about to begin for real.
On the 27th of May, the plywood finally arrived. Seeing that stack of Okoume marine plywood in person was incredibly exciting. It’s not just a delivery—it’s the foundation of the entire boat, and it felt like a real milestone. Holding the actual materials that will become the hull, deck, and bulkheads made everything feel that much more tangible.
A few weeks after that, the owner of the boat yard was able to clear out the floor space I’ll be using. I knew he was juggling a lot of projects, so I really appreciate him making room for mine. Now, I’ve got a dedicated corner of the workshop to call my own.
I've also started setting up the space properly. I brought in all the tools I’ve been gradually collecting—organising them into a tool cart with drawers and a set of metal shelves. It’s already proving to be a great system: everything has its place, and I can easily move the cart around as needed while working.I was lucky to find two sturdy work tables already in the workshop. They’re solid and perfectly sized, so I’ve set them up to hold the large MDF board where I’ll start marking and laying out the frames. It’s a small thing, but having a stable, flat surface to work on makes a huge difference, especially for accurate measurements and cuts.
With the materials delivered, the space cleared, the tools set up, and the first tables ready, I’m finally in a position I’ve been working toward for months: I’m ready to start building the boat.
Let the adventure begin.
